Living in Barrhaven
Located on the Southwest corner of Ottawa, Barrhaven is a lively suburb that has multiple public parks, playgrounds, sports centres and a wide variety of recreational possibilities. Situated outside the greenbelt, Barrhaven was formerly a neighbourhood in the City of Nepean. Originating as an agricultural area, this small community has since been developed by many commercial builders, allowing the suburb to have experienced significant growth since the 1960s, resulting in a community of over 72,000 citizens.
Condos, townhomes and single-family homes are abundant in this large suburb, with the majority of the newer developments being constructed in the 2000s. Barrhaven is often considered an affordable area to purchase a first home for a growing family, but the neighbourhood also includes upscale executive homes near the Stonebridge golf course.
Barrhaven is exceptionally well-linked when it comes to transit. It is a stop on the VIA Rail transit line to and from Toronto, is home to a large OC Transpo Park-and-Ride and is situated close to the Ottawa International Airport.
A destination to find beautiful parks, playgrounds, recreational centres and reputable schools, Barrhaven is an attractive place to call home.
