Kanata Lakes

Kanata Lakes is a neighbourhood in the northern part of Kanata in the west end of Ottawa. It is home to close to 13,000 residents.

Kanata was mainly an agricultural based location until the 1960s when commercial development took over and modelled buildings that would shape the community.

The lands around the Kanata Lakes Golf & Country Club formed the initial core of Kanata Lakes when it was first developed. Today, developers are clear-cutting two square kilometres of the Beaver Pond Forest to facilitate further development of Kanata Lakes.

The housing options in Kanata include townhomes, rentals and single-family homes.

Kanata Lakes Activities

Within Kanata Lakes, you will find the Canadian Tire Centre (formerly Scotiabank Place), home to the Ottawa Senators NHL team and the Bell Sensplex, which includes an indoor soccer field and four ice rinks.

Kanata Lakes has several sports associations with regular activities, the most visible being the large golf clubs, the sailing club and the bicycle club.

Landmark Kanata Theatres is the largest movie theatre in Ottawa, which is part of Kanata Centrum’s many eateries and big box stores. The Tanger Outlets — a shopping-mall chain featuring a variety of brand-name and designer outlet stores—is also nearby.
